I came across a copy of Buster`s classic "The General" on this site, titled "The General (complete and clearer) 1926". My question is "Is this still in the public domain?" The reason I ask is that I am a composer and have already written a piano score for another copyright free copy of the film. However the copy was rather on the grainy side and I felt it may have influenced the overall viewing/listening experience.

Any feedback/contacts etc would be welcome!

Many thanks

Kieran

Hello Kieran.
I think it's great when folks like you share your talents with the rest of us! One gentleman did a great score for a "Nosferatu" copy. Another great example is "GENUINE A Tale of a Vampire" with Larry Morotta's sound track. "GENUINE A Tale of a Vampire" is a definate must see! Any movie here is in the public domain, though at times you'll see people claim some aren't. If you want to add your own sound track I say go for it! That's what's great about a resouce such as this, public domain media is for anyone to do as they please! When folks like you add their expertse to media, it almost always improves or enhances the experience!

Thank you so much for wanting to share your time, energy and talent with the rest of us!
Peace and Blessings.
Phil
